“I’m not going to that party!” Lan Zhan protests. “I have absolutely no desire to spend the evening anywhere but here.”
“What if I tell you that Wei Ying is single?” Luo Qingyang crosses her arms and stares Lan Zhan down. “Are you seriously going to miss an opportunity to take your feelings off the page for a change and let him slip through your fingers?!”
Lan Zhan squeezes his eyes shut. He knows she’s right. As daunting as the prospect is, if he doesn’t try to confess his feelings to Wei Ying tonight, he may never get the chance again. There is almost definitely a long line of boys and girls who would do almost anything to have a chance to date Wei Ying; if Lan Zhan lets this chance pass him by, he may never get a shot with Wei Ying again.
He has to go to that party, because he will regret it for the rest of his life if Wei Ying winds up with some other person because he stubbornly chose to spend his evening writing yet another song about the boy.
Or: On New Year's Eve, Lan Zhan makes a move.

Summary
This year is the tenth anniversary of their graduation, and someone has apparently decided that there should be reunion festivities. Lan Huan was visiting when the invitation arrived and took the liberty of RSVPing on Lan Zhan's behalf while he was cooking their lunch. Unfortunately, his brother RSVPed yes, which was the incorrect answer, and now he feels honour-bound to attend. At least he doesn't have to travel far; aside from one formal event at the academy itself, the rest of the festivities are taking place in Caiyi. They will undoubtedly involve activities he does not care for with people he is at best indifferent to. Lan Huan made him promise to attend these as well, using a pleading expression not unlike the rabbits when they've been fed sub-par lettuce or haven't been cuddled sufficiently because he was at work.
As far as he's able to discover, Wei Ying has not RSVPed.
________________________________________________________After one night of passion at their high school graduation, Wei Ying left without a word and became an international rock star. Lan Zhan only has a very sexy and well-positioned poster to remember him by.
