The Winter War with Aizen is over.
This brings with it a sudden return to normalcy that neither Ichigo nor Uryū are ready for.
Ichigo, waking from a coma to find himself losing what's left of his humanity.
Uryū, returning to a world that hasn't changed, refuses to acknowledge how fragile he's become.
Both of them, experiencing strange feelings towards each other. They were just friends and battlefield allies. These feelings inside themselves were just remnants from a tragic war they'd been thrown into too young.
This assurance they both tell themselves fails to hold up to any scrutiny.

It was enough promise for Ishida to become visibly excited at first. After over an hour without progress, however, Ishida was just irritable. He didn't have it in him to be a patient sensei.
