Three more footsteps, this time descending and getting quieter.
Three seconds of pause before they allowed themself to slip out from underneath the desk, three small, expensive looking jewels clutched hard against their chest as they broke into a run. They carefully dashed between market stalls, weaving their way through crowds of people -- just as they had three times this week alone. Just a small slip-up and it could all be over.-

Her body finally hit the ground with such force that her head bounced off the cold cement, and something about it all felt different.
The blow to her head had triggered something in her, as if suddenly everything around her began to change. As if she had finally awakened from a long and confusing dream.
No. It wasn't paint. It was... blood.
Everything, absolutely everything around her was stained with blood. It seemed as if the landscape had become gloomy, there were destroyed things, disorder, blood, and bodies everywhere. And those things, those things that made so much noise, weren't toy guns, they were real guns.
Someone had actually shot her.
Pokke tried to move again, panic slowly overwhelming her, but a new presence, which settled on her body, prevented her from moving any further. It was another body, which felt really warm and comforting in a way.
Tachyon.
Tachyon had sat on her lap, preventing her from moving her legs, using his long lab coat as a shield to cover her from the rest of those present, holding Pokke's head with both hands, and bringing her face close enough for her tears to fall on the girl beneath her.
