Harry sat in the plush velvet chair with his arms folded, scowling angrily at the others in the room. “You’re not listening. I refuse to go by that name!”
“Mr. Potter–” McGonagall started to interject before she was once again interrupted by several increasingly alarmed and raised voices.
After another minute or so of no coherent sentences being audible above the din, Dumbledore cleared his throat and asked gently “Mr. Po–ahem…Harry. Why don’t you please tell us why you are refusing to answer to your surname?”
“Well sir, simply put, I refuse to answer to ‘Potter’ because I’m not a Potter–I’m Harry. Just Harry.”
He settled back into his chair, hoping his statement would officially settle matters. Judging from the agape looks of Snape, McGonagall, Lily, and James, he was starting to think that it didn’t.
