Cassandra sidestepped Stephanie's right hook easily.
In return Cass jabbed— lightly, by her standards— into Steph's side.
"Stop leaving yourself open."
Cass smiled at Steph's near growl in response.
They 'exchanged' blows, Cass more dancing around Stephanie than fighting.
Stephanie kicked— a risky gambit— lot's of power behind it, if the person she was fighting didn't see it coming a mile away, and oh so risky for her balance.
Cass grabbed her ankle and twisted, sending Stephanie to the floor.
Cass saw the moment Stephanie moved to roll before she was consciously doing it, to turn the fall into her momentum to jump back up, and was smiling broadly at her as she landed back on her feet.

Miraculously, both Stephanie and Cass are alive.
They spar.
They talk.

Cass’s lips are soft, and wind-chapped.
Steph cups her face in her palm, fingertips tracing the filigree of an old scar from her jawline, down to the hollow of Cass’s throat until it dips beneath the black leather seam of her Batgirl suit.
When Cass sighs into her mouth, affection steeps Steph’s heart with giddy warmth. It feels so good. Especially after they’ve been dancing around each other for god knows how long now.

Last night was awesome.
New Years Eve usually is. It was full of fireworks, drinking, partying, drinking, dancing, drinking, and more drinking. At least that's how the night went for Steph.
New Years Day, today, however, sucked. Completely awesome-less.
Exclusively filled with vomiting, passing out on the bathroom floor, and praying the roof would collapse and end her quickly.
The only upside against all the downsides, was that Cass was here with her.
