Summary
When they accidentally cause trouble for the wrong mob boss, Jack and Janet Drake come up with a completely flawless plan: return to Gotham to retrieve their son, fake the deaths of their entire family, then flee to Belgium. Tim can see a number of issues with this, mainly that (1) it's the stupidest thing he's ever heard, (2) his parents are definitely lying to him about something, and (3) Belgium. With all to play for, it's now up to Tim to create a believable narrative and avoid getting caught by any means necessary - even if that means traumatising the odd vigilante or two. He's willing to do whatever it takes to protect his family.
(But... which family?)

Summary
“Well, if you’re alive, you’ll have no problem setting the table,” Janet says, and glances impatiently at the wood he’d cracked his head on when he’d fallen down the stairs. “Blood in the wood, Timothy. It’s as if you don’t understand the value at all.”
“I’ll pick a better place to die next time,” Tim says dryly.
“See that you do,” she says, and sweeps off to call someone about the wood, presumably. It’s not too late to fix that situation, after all.
[Tim’s immortal. Somehow, he ends up using it to bring the second Robin back home.]

Summary
"Don’t stop touching Kon,” Braxton breathes into his mouth, pulling off, “wouldn’t want him to miss out on all of this, huh?”
“You fucker,” Kon hisses.
“Don’t pretend this isn’t what you want,” Braxton says, grabbing hold of Tim’s shirt in the front, grabbing one of Kon’s hands and pressing it to the bare skin of Tim’s waist. Kon fights him, but not much, and his hand is cold when it makes contact.
AKA: While being held captive by Lex Luthor, Tim and Kon are doing their best to survive. They get a little too close for Braxton's comfort.

Summary
Tim was not a person. He was not of flesh and blood or of warmth and soul. He was Batman’s shadow, and he would die under the growing light.
Bruce Wayne had been born to loving parents and a warm manor. Batman had been born of Gotham’s filthiest darkness. Tim had been born with the Dark Knight, slipping through the crevices of his dark shadow beneath his fluttering cape.
This was all true in both the most metaphorical and literal of ways. Tim straddled the blurry line of what was real and what lied between poetic lips. He could not, after all, remember being born to Janet Drake in a hospital bed as Jack Drake held tight to his wife’s hand. What he did remember was shuddering to life one dark night in the shadow that pooled beneath Batman.
or
Tim is both human and shadow, his consciousness alive in two different forms. In any body, he commits his life to Batman, an unkind fate that he wouldn't give up for the world.
