One moment Bonnie was on camera, the next, he went missing. Later that faithful night he was found, damaged so beyond repair that the engineering team had no choice but to put him away into a decommission status.
One year later, he's brought back online but not all is right with his systems. He can feel something 'off' inside his computing components. Some sort of glitch. But can't tell the others, right? What if they decommission him again? No, he can't risk being pulled off the floor again and taken away from all the things he loves, like playing his guitar in the nightly glamrock shows or singing happy birthday to the smiling kids. Or even spending time with the others and having fun after the Pizzaplex closes. Especially with Freddy.
It's just a silly little glitch after all. It'll work itself out.
Besides. After being in status for over a year, he has some catching up to do with his favorite lead singer.

When he walked into the kitchen, he found his dad standing motionless in front of the coffee machine. Notably, he was wearing a suit.
"Hey Dad," Kurt mumbled, starting toward the cupboard for his traveler's mug. "What's with the suit?"
He received no response, or greeting whatsoever. Kurt glanced over curiously as he opened the cupboard door, and froze when he saw that his dad was shaking with silent tears.

Summary
Starting college was the perfect opportunity for Blaine to spread his wings and begin embracing himself, even the part of him that once got him beaten within an inch of his life, leaving him with seemingly unstoppable nightmares. But what started out as a desperate lie to get someone off Blaine's back quickly turned into a whole lot more - good thing his new friend Rachel was willing to volunteer her boyfriend Kurt to help him out.
At least, Blaine assumed Kurt was her boyfriend.
