A hotel booking mistake forces Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov to share a room—rivals on the ice, strangers in a cramped hotel. To everyone else, Shane looks like a saint for “tolerating” his enemy. To Shane and Ilya, it feels like an opportunity they shouldn’t want as badly as they do.
Between back‑to‑back games, mandatory press conferences, and a charity event at the end of the week, the tension only gets worse. The tiny room doesn’t help: too close, too quiet, too many glances that linger a beat too long.Shane keeps slipping out at team events, returning rumpled and out of breath, and the Metros become absolutely convinced he’s sneaking off to see some mysterious girl at the hotel. Meanwhile, the Raiders keep overhearing noises, half‑conversations, and the occasional muffled laugh coming from the shared room at night. They put two and two together—and get the completely wrong answer.
As far as they’re concerned, Ilya Rozanov is definitely bringing girls back to the room he shares with Hollander, and they think it’s the funniest thing in the world.
tldr: they are straight banging it but their teams arent very good at putting 2 + 2 together

His husband heaved out a tired sigh then held up his phone. A message from the Centaur group chat was on the screen.
“Tonight’s guys night at Chouinard’s.”
Ilya blinked. Oh, fuck.Ilya and Shane are the first ever hockey players to also both be WAGs. This causes some unintended issues.

“Fuck.” Shane melted into the strong hand at his neck, the pressure over his throat and the heat of the Alpha’s palm. “Fuck, that’s–” his eyes started to flutter closed, his knees going weak, but he heard the Alpha huff a laugh and immediately stiffened again.
“Don’t do that.” he warned. “Don’t laugh like me letting you put your hand on my throat is predictable submissive Omega behavior and you're making fun of me."
“That is not why i was laughing.” Ilya squeezed Shane’s throat lightly, his thumb pressing over the suppressant patch covering the Omega's bonding spot and blocking his sweet scent. “I thought you would fight it, fight submitting. But you didn’t.”
“No I–” Shane swallowed hard. “I like it.”
“Good.” Ilya smiled slow and a little dangerous, running his tongue over his bottom lip and then over the sharp ends of his fangs before he leaned in and growled into the Omega’s ear. “Now get on your knees.”

Shane didn't mean to send the text. He was so dizzy and cold and unsteady after leaving Ilya's room, he didn't even remember if he HAD sent the text. His fingers were too numb to undo his shirt buttons, he felt like the floor was dropping out from beneath him, he was nauseous and exhausted and didn't know why he couldn't stop shaking, why couldn't he stop shaking...?

The text came through as gibberish, and “Fuck.” Ilya threw his clothes back on and ran to get to Shane's hotel room. He'd been too far in his head to pay attention to Shane being quiet and shivering after they were done. Shane had stumbled getting out of bed, bumped into furniture, struggled with the door and Ilya had heard it but he'd been too much of a coward to get out of bed and check and now his submissive was sending gibberish texts and that wasn't good.
“Sorry sorry sorry.” Ilya muttered as he ran. “I’m coming. I’m coming, hold on.”

Shane didn't know what he should say, what he could say. They hadn't talked since that night, hadn't been in contact much. Which at first hadn't worried Shane. It wasn't unusual for them to go longer periods of time without contact, and especially with the Olympics looming so close, with them both being chosen for their teams, it had only seemed logical to focus on their duties. He hadn't worried. Had lived in that blissful state of finally knowing what it felt like to be taken, of sharing the arguably most intimate part of himself with someone he trusted. Knew he could trust. Thought he could trust.

The smirk slides off Rozanov’s face. “They want –” he swallows, bringing one arm up to drape over his eyes. “The team I play for. During lockout. They… disagree about rest of season. Tell me I stay.”
“But they can’t do that!”
Rozanov gives him a sardonic smirk.
When Rozanov’s Russian team doesn’t want to let him return to the MLH after the 2012-13 lockout, Shane finds himself pulled into a harebrained scheme to make sure his rival is safe – and it might just work.
