Francis Pritchard witnesses his augmented co workers tear each other apart. He witnesses and he waits for his mind to put itself back together, but it won’t heal on its own. Neither of them will.

The dark magic cultists Pritchard had been trying to infiltrate had smoked him out of his cover, turned the newest three 'recruits'—himself one of their number—into little more than meat buried in permafrost, entombed in an avalanche on the side of the mountain. He was a ghost now, that much had to be true. Gravity was gone, there was pressure from all sides, and it hurt too: every inch of touch was enough to make him want to implode.
If he could still feel it, maybe he hadn't died yet. Moving his hands was impossible, even if they hadn't been encased, but the magic to send a message was negligible and required no gesture to shape it. Whether he could speak was another thing entirely. Claustrophobia was ripping open his ribs, peeling them away from his heart and lungs like a set of giant, gleeful fingers. He managed one scream into the muffled prison before dissolving into despair.
"Jenseeeennnn!!!!"

Pritchard is caught in an avalanche, and Jensen sets off to try to save him. Unfortunately, a snowstorm strands them with essentially no shelter.
