A Compilation fic for Cumplane Week 2026:
Shen Yuan wasn’t even sure how it happened. He’d typed out a long-winded comment about a loose end that Airplane had ignored in favor of yet another floral-themed aphrodisiac, and somehow he’d ended up with the author himself in his DMs. If only he had ignored that first message, he wouldn’t be sweating his ass off in a too-crowded convention center waiting to meet up with that little shit! Who was late! It really shouldn’t have surprised Shen Yuan so much that Airplane had no sense of punctuality!
He had intended to wait for Airplane to venture inside, but he was getting bored standing by the entrance. At least if he was walking around, he’d have something to distract from how heavy and suffocating all of these layers felt. Besides, there could be Binghe merch in there! Shen Yuan had no time to waste!
… He would at least text Airplane to let him know he was heading inside.
Or, two bros walk into a con. They both get more than they bargained for.

Summary
Mobei Jun had been thinking of adopting a cat. Two weeks later, when one of his neighbors posted an ad in the lobby saying they’d found a cat sleeping in the parking lot, he was quick to make his move.
Shang Qinghua had been a shapeshifter all his life. When a near death experience causes him to be stuck in his cat form with no way to change back and lose access to his apartment, he tries to make a living on the street temporarily. He didn’t ask to be adopted but, well, Mobei Jun is a surprisingly nice cat dad (plus his looks don’t hurt).
Or: the story of how Shang Qinghua gets stuck in his cat form and is unwittingly adopted by Mobei Jun, who quickly becomes attached to his little feline companion.

Shen Yuan purses his lips, avoiding Shang Qinghua's gaze. "Like is a very strong word." He utters shyly.
He smiles, leaning in close. "So you can kiss me like you're starving, but you can't handle me saying that you like me?"
"It's hard to grasp when the guy I like is not only my annoying roommate but the idiotic author of a shitty web novel that I don't like." Shen Yuan says in one quick breath, swiftly turning his head away.
Shen Yuan is really a terrible liar.
OR
With the slight help of Shen Yuan’s sister, Shang Qinghua finally builds up the courage to ask him out. Oddly enough, he ends up with a cat and Shen Yuan surprises him with a confession of his own…through text.

And yet, as Shang Qinghua ventured deeper and deeper into the woods, losing track of which way he’d even come from, and feeling like the air felt decidedly thicker around him, he found such a statement very much hard to believe.
Or: Shang Qinghua moves into a new town hoping to find inspiration for his next book. He’s roped into being the yearly sacrifice for the local mountain spirit – all in good fun of course, there’s always one! –, only to meet Mobei Jun, a mysterious stranger who doesn’t like to talk about himself but has lived up in the mountains for years.
