Soobin sat down on the couch (he collapsed like a puppet with its stings suddenly cut) (fell like the animatronics on a ride after the power was off). The closer he had gotten to the couch, the heavier his eyelids and feet felt. Kaz was lonely.
He didn’t like to think about it and he liked far less to admit it to himself. He preferred to keep such thoughts locked up tighter than the military secrets the Fjerdans so treasured. Over the years, he had become adept in the art of oh-so-elegantly twisting in a dance away from thoughts. Kaz knew once the thoughts began to seep out, it was a very quick, very steep plummet into dangerous, dark thoughts.
Most times, there wasn’t any time or space for such feelings. Sadness gave way to slowing down and wasting time, and those were a fateful combination amongst the muck of Ketterdam. -
