“Well I’ll be damned… this feels too good to be true.”
And it does; Robert isn’t used to surprise gifts– he hasn’t done anything to warrant this. He hates that his immediate response was to throw up his hackles, and try to find any signs of tampering– but it’s not unreasonable for someone like him. He’s Mecha Man; he’s on a lot of people’s shitlist. There’s a lot of people who would mean to do him harm, or at the very least, play a cruel prank on him. He can’t let his guard down, just because he’s a dispatcher now. Being Robert Robertson doesn’t erase the legacy that hangs over his shoulders– the shadow that it casts.

Summary
The Lost Light gets decommissioned and Whirl is left in the same situation he found himself before the quest began: homeless, jobless, friendless, with no support structure and no desire to acclimate to a post-war Cybertron that doesn't particularly want him there in the first place. Its not much of a surprise when he reacts the same way he did the first time.
Brainstorm has had suicidal friends before and he's kind of miffed that he's the only one who seems to notice the obvious, but apparently no one else is planning on stepping up to the plate, so the job of doing something about it falls to him yet again.

Swerve had to do something for his friends considering all they were doing for him. And, considering his bad luck with love was also on his processor a lot lately – for reasons he did not want to think about – it would kill two birds with one stone to make himself into the matchmaker they clearly needed.
Swerve wasn’t lucky in love, but by Primus was he going to make sure his friends were!
