Various voices ricocheted inside his skull until the bell finally rang and he felt Reo’s firm hand grab onto his sleeve, hauling him out of his chair.
“I’ve got no idea what’s got you so drowsy today, but you told me you were looking at the football club signups earlier this week. I’m not letting you flake on me again – you said we’d go together, remember?”
“Club? You sure…?”
“Yes, I’m sure. You said so yesterday.”
“Why on earth would I agree to go look at the football club with you…?”
After an incident leads to Chigiri leaving the track team, he turns to the dying football club as a way to fill the freshly cut hole in his 'self'.

After the NEL, Blue Lock opens its doors [with no lock-offs], no divided teams, only shared training grounds where everyone is supposed to move forward. Kunigami Rensuke has already returned. Everyone knows that already. Chigiri Hyoma tells himself he’s fine. He laughs with his teammates, keeps pace during drills, ignores the familiar ache in his knee and the heavier one in his chest. Kunigami’s distance isn’t personal. The Wild Card must have been rough. People change. That’s normal. But as days pass and words go unspoken, maybe begins to sound dangerously close to proof. When an old injury resurfaces and the silence between them grows louder, Chigiri is left wondering whether some things were only meant to belong to before and whether he’s already been left behind.
