Summary
My best interpretation of the floorplan of the "Charlie Safehouse" -- because I spent my first dozen or so viewings frustrated that I couldn't figure out where the action was happening in relation to previous actions, and how the rooms all fit together. (Yes, sometimes I'm dense.)
NOTE: The white can be glaring. I've put a buff-colored version below the explanations, if that's easier on your eyes. Added: my new computer shows it as a much brighter yellow than I thought, so it may not be "buff" to you. But I still think it could be easier on the eyes than the white version.

My 2010 SGA Santa fic for x_varda_x. On a diplomatic mission, Rodney, Jennifer and Teyla are overnight guests in a cliffside fortress. When darkness falls, an attack leaves Rodney a severely injured prisoner, and Jennifer and Teyla must get him back -- even if it means braving the lethal catacombs beneath the fortress with nothing but a couple of P90s plus wits, skill and luck. (Basically gen, mostly Jennifer & Teyla friendship, with some Rodney/Jennifer UST.)

Summary: On a diplomatic mission, Rodney, Jennifer and Teyla are overnight guests in a cliffside fortress. When darkness falls, an attack leaves Rodney a severely injured prisoner, and Jennifer and Teyla must get him back -- even if it means braving the lethal catacombs beneath the fortress with nothing but a couple of P90s plus wits, skill and luck.
Reaction: This is a real edge-of-the-seat thriller. When Rodney is captured, Teyla follows to rescue him. When Teyla's last communication is cut off, Jennifer sets out to find Teyla and Rodney. She has local militia/fighters with her to help the rescue efforts, but this story is a rip-roarin' study in sheer human cussed grit, all three pushing through and past the limitations they thought they had, to fight -- and defeat -- an enemy such as only Pegasus could produce.

Reaction: This story just flows, and fits like a comfortable pair of slippers. Within a charming historical setting, John and Rodney remain delightfully in character -- Rodney pushy and prickly, John laid-back, and both thoroughly enjoying each other's company.

Summary: A missing puppy wasn't quite the type of case Tony thought he'd be investigating in a federal agency, even a small one like NCIS. Still, with the taciturn Gibbs to impress, Tony's going to put his best foot forward in his first case.
Reaction: A case of a stolen puppy spreads much farther. This is an entertaining look at Tony's first case with Gibbs, learning the ropes at NCIS and how to deal with Gibbs and Abby. It's a fun, slightly amusing look as Tony develops his working relationship with Gibbs, including the 'character roles' he easily slips into and out of in order to do his job. This is the Tony TPTB probably intended from the beginning, but lost sight of; very well done.

Tender Loving Care by Somewhere_Far_Away - 38,5K; Old Guard
Summary: Nicky is a burned out doctor who needs a vacation. Lucky for him, his friend Nile asks him to pet/housesit while she is on her honeymoon. Surely it can’t be that hard to look after a dog and a cat? But when things go hilariously wrong, Nicky calls the number left by Nile for any emergencies and Dr. Yusuf al-Kaysani picks up the phone. But maybe this veterinarian can help more than just the pets? A modern romance with cuddly animals and love at first sight.
Note: first part of story deals with a refugee crisis, and people in danger in over-crowded boats. Several drown, including a small child that Nicky is unable to save.
Reaction: When Nicky is haunted by what he's experienced, he is forced to take leave and recuperate. From there, the story becomes a sweet, fun, mortal AU meet-cute. When Nicky attends Nile's wedding to Booker, he meets best-man Joe, to their instant mutual attraction. Then it turns out that Joe is the vet for Nile and Booker's animals while Nicky is house/pet-sitting during the honeymoon. Nicky and Joe continue spending time with other as their friendship -- and attraction -- deepens and grows, facilitated by cute animals and snarky Andy and Quynh. Plenty of fluff and good food and gorgeous art from Gness add up to a delightful story.

A Fine Arrangement, by Sharkie - 24,6K; Old Guard
Summary: Genoa managed to destroy Tunisia's navy, leaving the royal family to sue for peace. A treaty was struck, and Yusuf was offered in marriage to the King of Genoa's second child, the Princess Veneranda. At least, that was the plan.
Reaction: Yusuf has no choice but to make a political marriage to bring peace between Genoa and Tunisia... but when the bride-to-be runs away with her lover, Nicolò it forced to become the substitute marriage partner. Yusuf and Nicolò find they are well-pleased by these developments... until they learn that Nicolò's father and brother have decided to hold Nicolò's mother for ransom. Throw in escape under cover of night, each enjoying copious amounts of married sex, a touch of palace intrigue as Nicolò doesn't know if his family's actions will reflect on his position, and we have a thoroughly enjoyable story.
