“Stephanie? You’re still here?” Bruce observed.
“Yup, sorry to disappoint. Still here.” She tugged on her hair, frustratedly, pulling out the hair tie harshly. She cringed as some of her hair was ripped out along with the hair tie. Whoops.
“You’re here more than my actual children.”
Stephanie snorted. “Bit of a self-report there, huh?”
“What are you trying to do?” Bruce’s gaze drifted down to the poor, abused hair tie hanging from Steph’s hand. She shrugged.
“Welcome to the horrors of long hair,” she sighed. “Bad hair day.”

Summary
He imagined the looks on their faces if he told them, the brightening of their features at the prospect of another queer member of the group then squashed by the clarification that he wasn’t all the way gay. He wondered if they’d laugh, call him silly for thinking that was relevant, that he’d still one day marry a woman so it didn’t matter.
Or maybe they’d be angry at him for wasting their time. He could see the betrayal on Eddie’s face, thinking Steve’s feelings for him were some kind of joke. He could envision the trust between them vanishing all because he decided to open his mouth. They might, he thought, close off completely for daring to compare himself to them. Nothing was worth that.
The weekend after he realized he was bisexual, he kept his mouth shut.

“You, uh… you busy?” he had asked, glancing at the pile of paperwork on Bruce’s desk.
Bruce had closed the file, set his glasses down, and leaned back in his chair. “Depends. You offering me an alternative?”
Jason had shrugged, but the flicker of hope in his eyes betrayed him. “Maybe. Thought we could, I don’t know— do something. Just us for the day.”
Bruce had agreed instantly.

Summary
Bruce didn’t want to die.
But he could think of no death more beautiful for a dying father.
To have achieved it in protecting his son, cradled in the arms of a boy once too small to wrap his arms around his waist.
It pained him to leave his son so early, so abruptly, but if it had to happen, Bruce couldn’t think of a more worthwhile death.
“I love you.”
Bruce keeps dying. He does not know that he's already died multiple times today but his children do. And they're going to save him.
(Groundhog Day fic told entirely from the perspective of someone who doesn't remember the loop.)
