What if Wei Wuxian solved the Wen remnants problem by taking Wen Qing as a war bride after the Sunshot Campaign? And Wen Ning, too. And then Luo Qingyang. And Nie Huaisang wouldn't want to be left out, of course. He'd much rather move to Yiling than have to deal with his brother and the Nie sabers.
Thus, Wei Wuxian finds himself at the Burial Mounds with an impromptu "harem". It's all going quite well, too, until the Lan Clan demands that Gusu be represented in the household of the Yiling Patriarch.
Lan Wangji isn't sure what he expected to find when he arrived as Wei Ying's fifth spouse but it wasn't... this.

Wangji visits him in seclusion once a week when he is at Cloud Recesses, like clockwork. Lan Xichen, whose sense of time and self and world is drifting, appreciates, as always, his brother’s reliability.
Or, Lan Wangji recovers eventually. Lan Xichen does not.
