    Elias called his name and ran to him. Jonathan made no indication he heard him. As Elias came closer, he saw that Jonathan was tilting his head slightly from side to side, eyes closed, as if he were basking in some faraway melody. Elias only heard the roaring wind.

    He grabbed Jonathan’s arm, shouting his name more forcefully. He cried some questions and demands; Elias forgot what exactly. Jonathan opened his eyes but stayed in focus of the night sky and the rain.

    “You have me,” Jonathan said sadly, as if he were waking from a wonderful dream, “you have me. Yes, we’ll go.”

    Elias realised that he and Jonathan were not the same that night.
