If a crushed leg (due to toppled fire truck), a pulmonary embolism at the ripe age of 27, being caught in a tsunami with his best friend’s son, and an honest to god lightning strike weren’t enough proof of the matter, stepping on a bomb is all the confirmation he really didn’t need.
Edmundo Diaz has faced far too much death in his lifetime to be afraid of it. In fact, he’s spent most of his life staring down the barrel of a gun, metaphorically and physically. Summary
During the Battle of Starcourt, Eleven manages to escape through the elevator after Billy knocks Max unconscious. Unfortunately, Mike isn't so lucky.
Instead of chasing after El, the Mind Flayer decides to claim Mike for the hivemind, finally seeking revenge on the boy who foiled far too many of his plans. By turning him into a puppet, he creates the perfect trap, confident his two worst enemies will blindly follow the sound of Mike’s screams and end up falling straight into his grasp.
But he doesn’t seem to count on his favorite vessel actually fighting back, determined to drag the boy he loves, his heart, back into the light.

Summary
The Fallout after Vecna, sure was something alright. After all this time fighting and bleeding for peace, it's weird when you finally get the chance to enjoy it. For thte most part everyone had adjusted well to not having to fight for their lives on the daily anymore. That is.., everyone except Mike. But really in the grand scheme of things, he'll be fine like he always is right? So there's nothing to worry about. (Newsflash, there is very much to worry about, but subject is too deep in denial to acknowledge it.)
