“You’re uncharacteristically quiet,” John said lowly, Chris’s head twitching, “usually you’d be chatting. Nervous to see your girlfriend-oh sorry, ex-girlfriend?”
“Shut the fuck up,” Chris said flatly, as he turned his head, as if he could see through stone walls and use heat vision on the fat bastard in the car. A single ex-girlfriend doesn’t even compare to the pile of ex-wives the fucker has. Even if Chris’ ex was marrying the wealthiest man in Gotham City.
Emilia shifted her head slowly, eyes scanning the crowd, “Stop. Keep your eyes out for the leech.”
As if his luck couldn’t get worse, the music started. Drifting over the crowds murmuring with ease, signaling for guests to take their seats. The symphony of red-bottom shoes shuffled against the flooring as people started to sit. Staff moved through each pew, asking guests to sit and ready themselves. They were dressed in pressed black suits. They looked like servants. Little puppet men. The crowd settled without complaints as the music continued. It took all of six and a half minutes for people to sit down and shut up. Chris pulled on his tie slightly as the daunting sound of the organ doing nothing to quell his shitty feelings.

Dick sighed. The subway came to a stop, and the doors opened. Gothamites flooded the platform and Roxanne kicked her feet.
“Down. Down.” She whined, little shoes kicking him slightly.
“It’s busy kid,” Dick offered, as he shifted her in his grip, her screeching protests that she could do it muffled under the morning commute.

Summary
Alfred had already been doing his morning duties when Larissa came downstairs. Escaping Bruce’s bruising hold on her waist had been a challenge but she had managed. She had greeted him, spending the early hours of the morning with the older man. It was peaceful. A nice change from the usual bustling around that she tended to do in the mornings. Getting ready for work and such. But Dick was on vacation, the school let out for spring break. So, Larissa took the week off, deciding it would be better to spend some real time with him outside of parenting and monitoring his nightly activities.
