Summary
Xie Lian doesn’t quite know how he ended up in Ghost City. He had seen a group of pretty ghost ladies meandering down the street after dusk, and they had been dressed so fancily that he instinctively knew they were going to some sort of gathering or party– somewhere where there might even be food.
And he is so, so hungry.

Or, Xie Lian bets an heir in a dice match with the feared Crimson Rain Sought Flower, all for some food and a bath. He loses, of course– or does he? -

Summary
He Xuan starts coughing so loudly and so violently that for a second Xie Lian loses track of reality, and thinks it was He Xuan who got buried under what feels like half a mountain, and not Xie Lian. It’s only as he tries to get up, alarmed, that the pain shoots through his body and reminds him why that would be a terrible idea. A grunt of pain must escape him, because He Xuan pushes him down again. This time, he leaves his hand on his shoulder, a constant reminder to “stay the fuck down, dianxia, fucking idiot.”
“You sounded like you were in pain. Are you sure you weren’t hurt in the collapse?”
“It really is very galling to be fretted upon by a man who is bleeding half of his intestines unto the floor.”
(or: Xie Lian and He Xuan end up trapped in a cave together, and Xie Lian won't stop saying upsetting things. It's probably the concussion.)

Summary
When the thick black fog of the curse clears, there’s a child standing in front of Xie Lian. He’s small—he’s so, so small—and as soon as he sees Xie Lian, he wraps his arms around himself and hunches his shoulders like he’s trying to make himself even smaller. There is not a single spark of recognition in that wide, wild eye.
“...San Lang?!”
When a curse turns Hua Cheng into a child again, it's up to Xie Lian to take care of him. It's a task easier said than done, when Hua Cheng's memories have regressed along with the rest of him.

Summary
"Then the crowd hushes for a few seconds, before excited chattering starts up.
“It’s Chengzhu!”
“Lord Chengzhu is back!”
Several similar shouts erupt and suddenly there’s even more shoving, probably towards what all the ghosts are excited about until a sharp and cold voice cuts through the night.
“Scram!”
The masses pause and Xie Lian has only one second to be relieved from all the shoving until suddenly everyone scatters in different directions. A knee is shoved into his cheek and the force knocks him to the ground with a yelp."Or: As per Xie Lian's luck, he gets cursed and de-aged and stumbles shortly after into Ghost City. It turns out to be a blessing.
