Mags was going to vomit on her nice new shoes. She was shaking, about to topple over. Without even thinking, she broke away from the other sixteen-year-olds.
"Take me instead!" she cried, voice hoarse and desperate. District Four froze, silent and still. Eyes went to Peacekeepers, expecting guns to be cocked, readying their fire. Nothing happened. Her outburst had shocked even the cameramen behind their giant contraptions.
"I - I volunteer. I'll go instead." Mags said weakly. "I'll do it."
