Sometimes he’ll text just a hotel name and room number. Sometimes they’ll catch each other’s eyes across a crowded room full of ambitious, superficial cutthroats. Now and then, she’ll text a bar name for drinks.
Sometimes it scares them both, to think how they got here. Then they’ll think about morning, about the world outside the window, and just hold each other for one meager minute more.
It doesn’t make sense, but then again, nothing does anymore. The only refuge to be found lies in the kind of loss of control that feels good; feels right. That doesn’t need ideology or investigation or twisted intelligence. It’s a simple sublime truth, and means everything.
“Fuck, Rey,” he breathes into her mouth, sounding weaker than any man his size has ever been. “There are already too many walls in the world. Can’t we break this single one down?”

The Resistance concocts a brilliant plan and they convince Rey to go along with it. All they have to do is get the new Supreme Leader to the Resistance Base and convince him that he defected to their side before he lost his memories. It seems foolproof, especially with Rey as bait to convince him that he wanted to be there all along.
But Kylo Ren is no fool, and this isn't going to go the way they think.

Summary
The modern football AU no one wanted but I had to write anyway...
The original Field Goal Trilogy:
1: Scrimmage-Ben Solo and Rey Erso-Andor meet when her mother is hired as the new counselor at Chandrila High. They could have been friends, but he just had to open his big mouth...except for the one time it really mattered.
2: Fumble-Rey has tried to avoid Ben Solo since their disastrous high school years, but when she meets him again at a college party she is reminded that there has always been more to him than he lets people see.
3: Homecoming-After losing everything thanks to an injury, Pro Football player Ben Solo returns home and finds that the love of his life has moved on. He thought that was what he wanted. He was wrong. About a lot of things.Alternates and Additions:
1.5: Kickoff-Ben's side of the story in Scrimmage.
2.5: Interception-Fumble from Ben's POV4: Time Off-future snow day one-shot. Mia and the grandparents play in the snow, and Ben and Rey enjoy some quality couple time later.
