After Euini was cursed he was always hiding. Even after he suppressed his curse and rejoined witch society as Alaira’s apprentice he still hid. If Kukrow or the knights see the wrong thing it could all be over.
Recently though, Euini has felt new feeling, a new person (s)he could be. But it would draw too much attention. It can’t be worth it, right?

…There’s just one problem. One goddamn little hiccup, a hitch in the road that could cause a tailspin.
She’s already waiting for him by the kitchen counter, idly drumming chipped peach nails along the top. For a second, when she doesn’t think anyone’s looking, her expression is quiet and thoughtful. Withdrawn. The same one she had the other night, when he asked her to take care of the team. When he gave her the watch he can just see on her right wrist, barely hidden beneath her uniform sleeve. The metal glints in the light.
When she sees him, her face brightens to her usual. To the warm, seemingly-carefree smile she tends to wear. Creasing dimples in her freckle-doppled cheeks, a twinkle in her bright red eyes framed by auburn curls. Hard not to feel special with her attention on you.
Kotone.
“Shiomi,” he says, schooling his tone to be as sharp and short as he can manage. “What do you want?”
