“Got it,” interrupted Gwaine with a determined nod. “I’ve prepared for this day, Merls. Don’t worry, we know what to do.”

“We?” Merlin looked doubtful which seemed to offend Gwaine. Just then, Arthur called out for everyone to take a break and Gwaine seized the opportunity to attract the attention of Elyan, Lancelot and Percival. For a second, Arthur looked suspicious and made to follow but they breathed a sigh of relief when Leon stopped him apologetically with his questions.

“Merlin, meet your personal order of knights,” said Gwaine proudly. To the others, he declared, “Men! It is time for Operation Gold Goose to commence. This isn’t a drill, I repeat, this is not a drill!” They shared a look but nodded at once, leaving Merlin more confused than ever.

    “Operation… Gold Goose?”

Or Merlin ingests a truth potion (betrayed by Gaius, of all people!) and so obviously needs to hide from Arthur, lest he learns the truth. Thank god he has his friends to fall back on.

    Summary

“I think it’s time you joined me on rounds, Merlin,” announced Gaius one morning. “Not home visits yet, but you should watch how I conduct examinations in these chambers first.” Merlin sighed and reluctantly agreed.

“Who’s first?” he asked, plastering on a cheery smile.

“Guinevere,” said Gaius and Merlin frowned. What was wrong with Gwen? She’d seemed quite fine yesterday. “Maybe you should leave for this one. Guinevere may not feel comfortable with you, seeing as she’s your friend.”

As expected, the door to the Physician’s Quarters opened and Gwen entered, looking quite agitated. “Gwen! I’m gonna go, don’t worry,” he added, hoping to relieve her slightly.

Gwen took a seat on the patient’s cot and said, “Merlin, stay.”

“Are… are you sure? You don’t seem very—”

“I’m pregnant,” she blurted, her eyes widening. Merlin froze at the door and turned to Gaius, whose eyebrow rose almost instantaneously.

Or Gwen's reputation is at stake but Merlin is determined to help her. Let's hope everything works out.

    Summary

“My lord?” Arthur paused and looked up. Mordred stood, looking incredibly confused. Arthur drew himself to his full height, hoping to look like a proper king.

    “Mordred. Is Merlin up?”

“Not yet, Sire. I require some herbs and I need some help so I was hoping for your assistance,” said Mordred, bravely avoiding the elephant in the room. “If you’re busy then I suppose I can ask the others but—”

“No!” yelped Arthur before clearing his throat and trying for a more dignified response. “I will be coming but I require some time for... obvious reasons.” Mordred left, not without another strange glance and possibly questioned his king’s sanity.

He considered leaving the other knights but he abandoned that thought when he saw Leon. The man’s hair was wild, though not nearly as wild as the look in his eyes as he sprinted away. Arthur drew his sword — no doubt a magical beast was loose, for Leon to end up in that state.

The attacker appeared, in the terrifying form of a…

Or Arthur and his knights face their toughest challenge yet: surviving a day with a sick Merlin.

    Summary

“Well, this is the game. It is remarkably simple. You just have to steal Merlin’s neckerchief.” Immediately, complaints erupted from the knights.

“The neckerchief? He always wears it!”

“How are we supposed to steal it?”

“Merlin never takes it off for some reason — no way I’m going to risk my life and find out why!”

“Silence!” Arthur stared at the group, incredulous. “My knights, the most feared in the five realms, are terrified of my manservant?” They hung their heads in shame. “Even a squire probably could nick it off the idiot!”

“Is the squire still alive?” said a knight under his breath. Around him, his fellow brethren nodded their agreement, avoiding Arthur’s eye as he snorted.

“Merlin can be scary, Sire,” tried Lancelot. Arthur still looked like he seriously disagreed with the statement but after seeing the effect one pathetic coward had on a score of knights, he was forced to accept that yes, the Knights of Camelot feared Merlin the Buffoon.

Or 5 times Arthur gets blindsided by Merlin's ingenuity to stop the heists involving his neckerchief and 1 time Merlin gives up.
