Summary
He doesn't know how long he's in this in-between state. It's like traveling through shadows, but without his control; drowning in the darkness, choking on the static ringing in his ears. He's more or less aware that what eventually brings him back up on the surface of consciousness after drifting away, though, is a loud banging noise. He shuts his eyes tighter. Is the battle still on-going…? Are those explosions? Are these pathetic remains of what was once his tower going to break into shambles too? Might as well, he supposes. What's getting buried alive in his state? Can it truly get much worse? Alastor just wants to sleep.
The noise comes again.
"Hey, Alastor? You there?" Ah- it's knocking. The voice from behind the door feels both close and far, far away. His ears are ringing. There's more knocking. "Alastor, if you're in there, please let us in- We wanna make sure you're okay!"

Or: After the fight with Adam, Alastor runs, with a wound on his chest and a wound on his pride. He hides away, no plan but for a hope that his attempt at patching up his injuries would be enough.
A certain princess doesn't let him deal with it on his own, though.

Summary
Fueled by his dreams of being a radio star and his own fragile ego, eighteen-year-old Vaughn runs away to New Orleans to make a name for himself. In a bizarre sequence of events, he is saved, hired, and swept up in the chaotic life of his biggest role model. Alastor is everything Vaughn expected him to be and more: talented, funny, wise... and a little fast and loose with the law. The two quickly form a close friendship, working in the radio station during the day and partying at Mimzy's speakeasy at night.
Even when things started to fall apart, Vaughn never guessed that his best friend was capable of what he was. As Alastor dealt with the countless disasters that followed himself and his friends, he only became more convinced that he was a good man.
Until the day the truth came out. Alastor was gone, and Vaughn would never be the same. He'd find himself hurtling down the same path of cruelty and bitterness that Alastor did, and eventually join him in Hell.
Alastor never wanted this for Vaughn, but it was inevitable. After all, he'd always been so determined to be just like him...Bookmarked by SolCaeruleus

Summary
After almost dying in the abstract and absurd name of betterment, Alastor is left mortally injured and enraged, his life in everyone's hands but his own. Too deeply entangled in his own games to walk away, too proud to ask for help, he returns to centre stage of the repaired hotel to carry on playing his role, even though the spotlights burn and his costume is getting bloody.
No one will ever know. He will get the better of this on his own. Even if it kills him.
(In which Alastor struggles with the weight of his reputation and Rotting in equal measure, Charlie deals with the lingering guilt of having friends die for her, and Husk and Angel figure out a way to get away from Valentino. Slowburn, but instead of romance it’s a man dying because of his own hubris and obsession with control.)

Summary
Vox hates Christmas beyond its ability to feed his own capitalistic desires, but his business partners always end up dragging him kicking and screaming into the festivities anyway. What they don't know is that for a few odd years between 1957 and 1972, Vox found himself enjoying it. Of course, that's not the case anymore, and like most of the problems in his life, it's Alastor's fault.
THIS IS A SEQUEL TO MY OTHER FIC, FOR THE GOOD TIMES!!! If you want to know the context behind Vox and Alastor's bizarre one-sided dating situation then read that first!
