Summary
Staring with sullen eyes at the boiling kettle, Tim was regretting his night-time activities with how sore his body is and he misses the sweet sound of sleep that he could be getting right now at 2:30am at night. He has just had a long patrol and is trying not to itch as he can feel how gross his wings are.
In the past few hours alone, he has had to scoop as much egg out of his feathers as he could from an angry squad of teens who were pissed he got their dads arrested; he has had to ignore the few globs of paint that spilled in his wing when he caught a wall-painter from falling to her death, but he especially hated when Poison Ivy tried to restrain him with his wings. He’d be surprised if there was a single unruffled feather in his wingspan.
He could probably find the meaning to life somewhere in there, hidden behind a feather that's glowing from some of Gotham Bay’s water that got splashed on him a week ago.
Tim isn’t sure he quite wants to find out why it is glowing.

Summary
On screen, Kim Dokja looks at the floating countdown. I didn't get to die today and suddenly I'm in TWSA. In a cabin which story was never told in the novel. The novel that ended today, but never truly reached the end. I want to read, Kim Dokja thinks feverishly. I want to read the end. And to do that, I'm going to have to survive.
In the present, Kim Dokja was yanked up by the collar and faced the Protagonist. It didn't even occur to Kim Dokja to get away himself, resigned to his fate. His head feels like it was stuffed with cotton, as if he breathed some sort of thought-annihilating mental miasma. The incoming violence was bound to happen.
"Tell me the truth."
Kim Dokja's eyes flew open. He had closed them with the expectation of getting his face caved in, not a question.

An ORV reaction fic where Dokja's suicidal ideation is a bit more obvious from Day 0. Kim Dokja's Company, who had been whisked away into an open space under the starry night after the destruction of the Absolute Throne, watches Kim Dokja's memories and realizes that he had intended to die during that fateful subway ride. Not knowing yet that the truth is even more devastating.
