Summary
Every time Kaveh touched himself, there was a recurring theme in his fantasies that plagued him to no end. A looming figure. An ominous presence. This suffocating feeling of being watched. Observed, as if he was some kind of artwork or experiment. It triggered this lecherous part of his brain. The way he longed to be tracked by those critical eyes as he undulated in front of the thankless man. Just the thought of it sent shivers down his spine.
or
Kaveh gets off to same fantasy every time. He’s in his room trying to let off some steam when all of a sudden, he sees a glint from the corner of his eye and realises he’s not alone. He’s been caught by someone and it’s humiliating, it’s frustrating, it’s… beyond embarrassing how much it turns him on. -

Summary
And despite that... Kaveh is… “Lovesick?”
Kaveh’s hands move to cover his face, palms muffling his words as he mutters, “It’s—not quite like that.”
“Well, the ‘sick’ aspect is accurate, at least.”
“No shit,” Kaveh snorts. “The ‘love’ component, though—it’s, uh—”
“You’re not in love?”
He coughs. “The greenhouse in my lungs begs to differ. I—it’s more that my body is mourning a love it knows can’t ever be requited.”
For all the negative feelings Alhaitham’s encountered over the past twelve hours, the sensation that creeps through him now is…
Unfamiliar.
Unknowable.
Despite all the languages he’s fluent in, Alhaitham is unable to conjure a word or phrase with which he can immediately label it. He just knows that whatever this feeling is, it’s unbelievably unpleasant. Like his body is stationary, yet his internal organs are plummeting into the Abyss.
“You love someone who doesn’t love you back?” he asks after a moment.
Kaveh has Hanahaki. That much is known. But who he loves, and whether Alhaitham will be able to save him, is up in the air.

Summary
Thus always to tyrants. Bad, but justified, ends always befall tyrants.
Alhaitham grew up on the belief that the Akademiya was corrupt, as was the royalty, and Sumeru was doomed to someday fall. But Kaveh wasn't like them. Kaveh was fire burning bright, passion itself, and he was certainly not his father. He wasn't, nor ever would be, a tyrant.
Alhaitham would make sure of it.
“You detest me,” Alhaitham said quietly, breaking the silence. It was hard to finish with that, hard to form the words when there was so much more at hand than just how they may have felt toward each other. After all, they stood in a literal hell, the flames still flickering and smoldering out.
The bodies still lay bloody around them.
Kaveh stared. Not at him, but at the hill surrounding them. He took it in, everything in its brevity, and let out a slow breath. Then he turned back to Alhaitham with no light behind those ruby eyes, with all the pale coldness of a man he'd once killed. He smiled and repeated, knowing his line by heart. “I detest you the way the sun detests the moon. You cannot have one without the other, but they chase each other away all the same.”

Summary
Alarm overtook Kaveh’s expression as he looked back and forth between Alhaitham and the matra, dropping his sketchpad and leaping to his feet. “Why is there a guard here? Did you get hurt?”
“Some idiot decided poisoning me to obtain state secrets would be an optimal use of a Tuesday morning,” Alhaitham replied with a deep sigh.
Kaveh’s hands hovered uselessly in the air for a few moments as he stared at Alhaitham. “I’m sorry, what?”
Leaning back against the wall, Alhaitham let out a weary exhale. “Truth serum,” he said tiredly, raking his fingers through his hair then dropping his hand down to rub his throat. “I can’t lie.”
Kaveh’s eyes widened. “Oh my gods. Are you - are you okay?” Hurrying forward, Kaveh - with his blessedly fully covered legs - guided Alhaitham onto the divan, hands steady despite the panic in his voice.
“I don’t know. I’m just glad you’re wearing pants,” was all Alhaitham managed to answer.
