Atsushi leaves to attend the funeral of his former headmaster. When he returns, he is not alone. Beside him stands Ishiguro Kazuo — elegant, composed, and claiming a place in Atsushi’s childhood no one else remembered existed.
Kazuo’s polished affection and effortless charm allow him to slip into the Agency’s good graces with surprising ease, drawing sympathy and warmth from the others. Only Dazai remains unmoved. To him, the reunion feels incomplete; too smooth, too familiar, and uncomfortably welcome in Atsushi’s personal orbit. As the other members embrace Kazuo, Dazai watches from the margins with cool suspicion and an unmistakable flicker of irritation, sensing that some stories return for reasons no one has asked for.
