Wolfwood wakes to the sound of bells.
When he is lifted from the tomb, broken marble pushed unceremoniously aside by the only man this side of Octovern who could make it look easy, it is only the way that he flinches instinctively away from the sunlight that convinces the gathering crowd that he isn’t still dead. One head towers above the rest, face painted with something nameless, horror and elation crashing together at once as he stares into the grave.

Summary
Knives's plans for July didn't go exactly as he intended, but that didn't stop him from continuing to try to remake his brother in his image. Nicholas, Meryl, and Milly rescue a Vash who no longer remembers them, and only remembers the worst of what humanity has done to him.
Vash may never rediscover the person he was before. Can he keep choosing to defend humanity when all he knows of them is their cruelty?
