It had been their promise, to only die by the other’s hand, but Zanka was a coward. He hadn’t wanted to comply with said promise, hadn’t wanted to be the one to end Jabber’s life. He had wanted the two of them to grow up together, to finish this stupid war together, to figure out adulthood together; where they would go, what they would do, how they would function— he wanted to figure out each step with Jabber by his side.
At least, this way, he had Jabber’s soul to illuminate his path.
