Summary
“Don’t go,” she pleaded, her voice scarcely more than a whisper. “Please, Mike. Don’t go.”
Mike shifted nervously in his seat. This bike was fucking uncomfortable.
He hesitated a moment, not sure he could trust his voice. But he managed to croak out those three words anyway.
“I can’t stay.”
He looked back to his mom and Holly, still standing in the doorway, unmoving.
And with that, he kicked his foot onto the pedal and cycled away.
Or, the one where Mike finds a home in his best friend's house.

Summary
“Do you think I’m a bad person?”
Will’s head snaps in Mike’s direction, a look of absolute confusion on his face. “What?”
Mike doesn’t elaborate. He’s too busy listening to the thoughts that are swirling around in his brain. He’s all too familiar with them by now, given how frequently they invade his consciousness. You’re a horrible brother. You’re an even worse friend. No one really likes you; you’ve just tricked everyone into putting up with you. You’re a manipulator like that.
—
Mike opens up to Will about his feelings of self-hatred and jealousy. Will has some words to say about Mike’s treatment by his parents.

Summary
Contrary to popular belief, Tim doesn't actually hate galas the same way most of his siblings do. He doesn't like them, for sure, but he doesn't hate them either.
Usually, at least.
Usually, he has at least a few people there that he recognizes and is able to hold a conversation with. Usually, he has at least one sibling with him to shoot the shit with when things get too boring. Usually, he is able to have a com line in his ear (or his glasses running a speech to text program so he can see the banter over the line) to keep up with what's going on. Usually, he expects trouble and is keeping an eye for the first sign of it. Usually, when all else fails, he can slip out onto a balcony with his phone to idle some time away before heading back into the fray.
The wall directly across from where he stands sipping his second glass of champagne explodes inward and Tim takes back every complaint.

Summary
Ghosts--the kind of ghost he is, at least--are immortal. Their soulmates tend to match that status, so it isn't possible to have "last words". To make up for it, whatever determines soulbonds decided to invert the normal rule.
Danny doesn't hate that he will know who his soulmate is immediately. He doesn't love the idea; it feels unfair to the people he loves and especially to his soulmate, who, presumably, hasn't died and revived and therefore still carries his last words to them. Or what were supposed to be his last words to them. Probably his last words to their mortal form, if he's honest with himself. His biggest gripe, though, is it feels... cheap. It feels like he won't get to choose them the way he wants.
Love shouldn't be an obligation, and he's worried it will feel like that when he meets them.

Summary
Tim's been avoiding getting his wisdom teeth removed, and when an untimely accident leaves him with a torn rotator cuff and a head wound, they decide to take care of both at the same time. Anasthesia and the good meds aren't Tim's friends.
(Don't worry, Tim. Wisdom isn't stored in the teeth.)
(Excerpt)
"You're pretty," he slurs, "really pretty."
"Thank you," Danny says with a smile and a little flush on his ears- no matter how many times he hears compliments from his boyfriend, they still fluster him, too. "You're really pretty, too."
The nurse is smiling like she's looking at a particularly cute puppy.
"We should fuck."
"I'm right here, Tim," Bruce warns, obviously trying to choke back laughter.
Tim doesn't look away from Danny. "Don't tell my dad I said that."
"I won't," Danny promises, trying not to laugh as well. "How is he?"Series
