    The first time Suguru meets Gojo, he knows it must be a mistake.

    “Are you okay?” are words that should never be coming out of that guy’s mouth. Especially now.

    It’s just his luck; his shitty, good-for-nothing luck that landed him a soulmate that’s the complete opposite of what he likes.

    Suguru knows his type. Mild. Kind. Brown eyes, maybe. Someone that he can talk to easily and stay silent with just as well. Not this arrogant, snarky, loudmouth of a sorcerer. Suguru barely got the chance to summon his cursed spirits before the guy came jumping into his scene, laughing like it’s all a joke as he exorcises a Grade 2 with a swipe of his fingers.

    “Suguru-kun, you have a kind soulmate,” he remembers his aunt telling him. “Their first words are out of worry for you.”

    He looks back at Gojo, bashing a curse’s head into the concrete, gleeful like a child with a new toy, and thinks, bullshit.

    or: a satosugu soulmate au in which the first words your soulmate says to you are shown on your body.

    Choso’s mother granted him life twice over. The first was with his unknowing conception at the hands of a nameless curse and a man whose blood defiled an already damned union. The second was by her own forceful hands, one grasping the neck of an intruder on the brink of unconscious, while the other held tight the womb which harbored Choso’s soul. One violating shove into the man’s mouth, her palm slamming against his lips to ensure the vile plunged down his throat. That was all it took to awaken the spirit who had been sealed away, a life denied no longer. Already branded a monster by virtue of her body, Choso’s mother knew it did not matter that she traded one stranger’s life for that of her eldest son, for if she didn’t, neither would be holding themselves up on their hands and knees, gasping for air. 

    These were the first of Choso’s breaths. 

    Consequently, these were about to be the last of hers.

     

    ♦ Choso gains an autonomous form much earlier in the timeline. While much is expected to change, his love for his family never will.
