It wasn’t stunned speechless, nor was it his brain catching up to what it heard. It felt more like a snapshot, a moment of stillness to make the rush after all the more disorienting.
Slade gestured with cuffed hands, palms facing upward. “It’s not about what I want,” he started, “it’s what you need.
