Instead of just losing his eye, Sunny was stabbed twice more in the chest.
For his hospitalization and recovery to go smoothly, Sunny has to stay behind in Faraway - at least, for now. He couldn't walk to Basil's hospital room anymore, nor could he find an opportunity while conscious to tell all his friends the truth at once.
In his delirium, Sunny told Kel first. If any of them could understand Sunny—could let Sunny have a fresh start—then surely, it would be Kel.
