Kafka never wants that smile to disappear.
“Okonogi-chan worries too much. I’m fine.” Hoshina says, the grimace on his face suggesting otherwise however.
“Will all due respect, vice-captain, I disagree with you.” Kafka says and gently lowers Hoshina onto the ground, keeping an ear out for the honju. The last thing he wants is for it to sneak up on them. “What happened?”

Dabi didn’t hear the rest of the message, his phone shattering beneath his grip, his breaths heavy to his ears. How dare they hurt Hawks like that. How dare they. They’d been so careful too; taking care to make sure that Hawks was kept out of the public eye whenever Dabi had a job to do—and if he did come, make sure he was heavily disguised. They’d done everything right.

When Hawks is almost killed protecting Tokoyami from a villain, Tokoyami wants nothing more than to sit by his mentor's bedside. However, things aren't what they seem and Tokoyami hears things about the incident that aren't what actually happened. But then Dabi appears one night, acting in a way that implies he's close to Hawks and insisting that someone on the hero's side tried to kill him; not the villain that attacked Hawks and Tokoyami.Tokoyami isn't sure whether he believes Dabi or not; after all, the man is one of Japan's worst villains, despite not acting like it. But what he does know, is that someone tried to kill his mentor and cover it up, and that wasn't something Tokoyami was willing to leave be. And if that means working with Dabi to uncover the truth, then so be it.

“Don’t sugar coat it, Hizashi. Just tell me what I want to hear.”
“I—I know Shouta, I want to, and I will, just—please.” Hizashi’s voice cracked at the end, his quirk leaking out, making Aizawa and the doctor flinch. Aizawa looked over at his friend, seeing the heartbroken look on his face, and the unshed tears in his eyes. His heart skipped a beat in that moment, and his skin went cold. The last time that Hizashi had had such a look on his face, had been when Oboro had died back when they were students.
