Summary
Sebastian had limited experience with human children, and never before had he been summoned and leashed by one. He had very little knowledge on how to care for them, and no one to ask his most basic questions. After all, he was meant to be an experienced butler who was well-prepared for every aspect of this job.
Was this normal behaviour for young boys? To- regress, he supposed?
He had no way to know. Warily, he resigned himself to weathering this mood of his master’s like he weathered all the boy’s moods-- with amusement and dexterity.

He’d only ever entered the contract with Sebastian in order to get vengeance on the people who had brought shame upon the name of Phantomhive. Nothing more, nothing less. And, once Ciel had achieved his goal, Sebastian would consume his soul. It was simple. It was straight forward. Ciel knew that this winding road towards revenge would come to an end sooner or later.
It wasn’t that the fact bothered him- it really didn’t. It was the fact that, on this winding road to revenge, he’d become particularly accustomed to Sebastian. The way that Sebastian woke him up in the morning, presented his tea to him, dressed him, disciplined the other servants. It was all so… particular. Particular in a way that Ciel had come to expect every day. He felt amiss if those things happened differently- which they sometimes did. Summary
The demon is silent for a moment, his eyes contemplating something as he looks at Ciel. He looks almost wrong-footed, as if he’s unsure how to proceed.
Now that Ciel thinks about it, he has been going about this almost too confidently. He’s been taking all of this in stride, which is a far cry from how he acted last time.
But that’s only because he’s been through all of this before. This is only a dream.
No, perhaps Ciel should be honest with himself. If this were all really a dream, it would’ve ended by now. While he’s had numerous nightmares about this night in particular, they never last this long.
But the alternative is ridiculous. Could he really be going through all of this again? The very idea is just… unheard of.
Regardless, if he really is going through all of this again, then he needs to keep going.

Summary
“Get under the covers, my lord.”
Ciel makes an irritable noise but sits up properly, kneeling on the bed. “No. You do it.”
Sebastian’s eyebrows knit. “Are you five? Do you need me to do even this, my lord?”
“I don’t need it, but I commanded you to do something, so-”
The butler cuts him off with a wave of his hand. “Very well, my lord.” The words have hardly left his mouth before Ciel finds himself being ushered up the mattress.
But not by gloved hands; no, Ciel finds himself being gently pushed towards the pillows by thin, wavering, tendrils of shadow. They’re cool to the touch, though not frightfully so, and they press gently to his body, herding him like a misbehaving lamb.

Summary
On the first day of Sebastian’s recovery, he had insisted on overseeing at least the basic preparations. All too quickly, it had become clear that he was in no state to do so, though, when he’d keeled over, one hand pressed to his wound. Ciel had demanded-- ordered, contract seal flaring with power-- that Sebastian stay in his quarters until his body was well and truly healed.
And the demon had not emerged from the room since.
Sebastian’s room, the head butler’s room, was at the very end of the hallway. Ciel tiptoes past Mey-Rin, Tanaka, and the boys’ room on quiet, slippered feet, stopping in front of the door.
