When Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers found Wheeljack wandering in the remains of Crystal City, they supposed he may have been a prisoner of war. They thought he may have escaped from Shockwave’s lab or some other Decepticon camp. However, Wheeljack refused to tell them anything, so there was no way of telling what really happened to him.
