Alexandra knew ‘things’. A few months ago, the idea of sacrificing myself for an immortal being would've sounded ridiculous to me. Immortal people can't die. What would be the point of letting myself fall?
And then I learned there are some conditions that even immorality can't overcome.
And now the idea of sacrificing myself for an immortal being didn't seem so absurd to me.
So here I lie, staring into the eyes of death as he approaches, his teeth bared and his eyes shining red in the moonlight. I should be afraid, but I wasn't. I had chosen this. I didn't have the right to be afraid, though if I did, I don't think I would be.
The alternative was to live without them.
That's the only thing that scares me now.
