The ceremony of the Kingdom of Aurea was an old one. Stretching back before Old Valyria was even born, a breed of wyrm cousin to those of Valyria yet different all the same dwelled within the great mountains.
An ancient ritual within the kingdom began many, many generations ago due to the folly of a king who would claim the title of dragonslayer. Instead he got a land burned and scorched, and his daughters burnt bones at his feet. A deal was struck. Time passed and with each generation a blood price would be demanded by the lone dragon within the mountains, as retribution for her three hatchlings murdered. Yet humans were cunning and untrustworthy and thus the ritual changed, and then it was three unknowing brides brought into Aurea who would be sacrificed in place.
Daenerys Targaryen was the third and final one, the last bride price for the current prince of Aurea.
Yet she was the blood of dragons and the fire was hers.
