Summary

After the worst Christmas ever Remus is confronted by problems and one extremely confusing letter. Fearing he would never step foot in Hogwarts again, he finds himself back at the castle he calls home. In returning Remus accepts the fact he may have lost all his friends only to realize that is not the case. But things are never easy for the young werewolf and he struggles to navigate the second half of the year which may prove to be even more draining than the first half! For starters, the tensions between the schools grow as the second Triwizard Task approaches. Also, Remus is forced to sort out his feelings for his friends and finds himself making some tough decisions regarding his relationships. With budding new friendships as well as strained old ones Remus discovers that he hardly gets any time alone. However, when he is alone the questions about every aspect of his life overwhelm him so perhaps the constant company is a good thing, even if it does leave him completely exhausted. Only one persistent question keeps haunting him along with familiar and distinctly unpleasant dreams. A question that Remus slowly begins to piece together. What exactly happened to him when Greyback kidnapped him? (Chpts added, format fixed!)

Darius made a derisive noise in the back of his throat, sounding offended. “No, I did not! I try to avoid Whispers when possible.”
Hunter chilled, feeling as if he was back on that mountain, the bitter gust threatening to topple him from its sheer ferocity. “Why?” His voice was coming out choked and scared, once more suspiciously hoarse. He barely resisted the urge to touch his fingers to the clasp of his cape hiding the bruises around his neck. As much as he wanted confirmation that Raine was no good he was also terrified of it. “Are they dangerous?"
“HAH! No more than I am. Yet here you are barging into my room demanding answers."
"I don’t know why I’m bothering to tell you this. I would rather bathe in the boiling sea than spend more time with you than necessary. Raine Whispers is a nuisance, that is why I avoid them. They are ridiculously perceptive and naive.”
“Oh.” The fluttering of his heart slowed, “I guess I should have realized it was about you not liking someone.”

All Remus Lupin wanted, for as long as he could remember, was to go to Hogwarts. Now that he's there he wonders if he made a mistake attending school. Between struggling with his relationships and accidentally discovering something that makes him a target, he has his hands full. And that isn't even taking into account the full moon and starting to remember what really happened to him as a child! With many things happening year one is sure to be as eventful as it is stressful for the awkward boy and the three roommates he gets stuck with.
Remus Lupin wants to avoid getting expelled and simply keep his head down, actually he just wants to survive the year...
Sirius Black wants his family to f-off and to figure out what is going on with his weird new roommate
James Potter wants everyone to get along and beat his rival for best marks in classes
Peter Pettigrew wants to keep up and keep being included

Summary
Remus was sure he'd have to say goodbye to his friends this year, but oddly it seems they have forgotten about his secret. Or, more likely, they are hatching some sort of plan. But with a strange new Professor who seems determined to lessen his classes' prejudices, maybe, just maybe, there's hope yet—even though Remus knows it's only a matter of time until they find out. However, he has bigger things to worry about. Mainly keeping his other two friends from murdering Peter, finding a way to be supportive about Quidditch to both Sirius and James, and trying to hold off Patricia's attempts to take them to the forest, which seems far too dangerous and suspicious. Oh yeah...and the Triwizard Tournament is being attempted to be held at Hogwarts for the first time in hundreds of years, though if the attempt will be successful is anyone's guess, especially since there might be a secondary reason for why some of the students from other schools are at Hogwarts. Between classes, Quidditch, and full moons- Remus doesn't know how he's going to make it through this school year without slipping up, but he is going to try.
Where Sirius is desperate to learn the secret that Remus is just as desperate to protect!

He snickered, shaking his head, but the smile slipped from his lips as they settled into a neutral line. He leaned on his cane to look up at the sky.
“I don’t. I mean, not really. People think it’s this majestic, all knowing force, but it’s a lot more like a child, always watching, always learning. When it connects with us, it tunes into every fiber of our being. It doesn’t know anything at first, we shape it with our every thought, our every use, every action. We’re its compass, moral or otherwise. You know what they say, what goes around comes around, that’s very literal here. I just…learned that a lot sooner than others do. They take from the world, so it learns to take. I give of myself, and only myself, so it gives in return…"
He glanced down at his hands, examining them carefully as they glowed faintly in the moonlight.
"...at least, that’s what I tell myself. That’s what I hope is the truth.”

Summary
For the past five years, Virgil has been stuck in an orphanage with only bad memories and music to keep him company. There had been hope, at first, that if he smiled and behaved he’d find a loving family to call his own. But in the end that hope died, crushed under the truth his father had so often repeated- something in Virgil, hidden deep beneath the polite exterior, was rotten.
Simply put, Virgil was a bad omen. No matter who fostered him, their lives crumbled in Virgil’s presence. It started with small things- a leaking sink here, a cracked window there-, but it inevitably escalated until a broken marriage or a burning roof led them to return Virgil. After the eighth or ninth time, he stopped forcing a cheery attitude and accepted that he wasn’t worth the effort. Any effort. It would be best if everyone left him alone to melt into his corner and disappear.
But there was someone that wanted him, a couple that was almost as strange as he was. Despite his warnings, they took him in and gave him a warm home. Summary
