Summary
This has been a rollercoaster of a year for Buck. Get broken up with, sister gets kidnapped, best friend moves away, move into his house, everyone thinks your in love with your straight best friend, almost lose your whole team in a explosion, lose the only father figure you’ve ever had, best friend abruptly moves back, and lastly move into a new place again. So of course the cherry on top comes via phone call or should I say olive on top because apparently that’s his daughter’s name.

Summary
Eddie is finally settling into El Paso life when a call from Chimney sends a lot of well controlled emotions spiraling.
Or
Eddie picks up the phone attempting to keep his voice light in hopes of easing the sinking feeling he has. “Hey Chim what’s up?”
Chimney’s tone was clipped as he responded, “it’s about Buck.”
“Is…is he okay?..” Eddie couldn’t tell if his heart was beating to fast or not at all.
“Yes and no.” Chim just sounded exhausted now, “Look man I know you got obligations in Texas. But he needs you right now…their dad died 2 days ago…”

Summary
Once he’s safely in the Jeep Buck lets his head fall back against the seat. He’s not having a panic attack, he’s not going to be sick, and he’s certainly not going to cry. Buck just feels lost. Suddenly he’s as much the kid the others think him to be. How is he supposed to cope with this.
“Why are you still fucking dead?” Buck asks the imaginary Bobby in the passenger seat. “You were supposed to be here for me for this sort of shit. You were supposed to tell me what to do.”
In the wake of Bobby's death and the birth of his nephew, Buck receives a diagnosis and makes some well meaning, but ultimately ill considered life choices. Will the path he's set himself on break him? Or will it be the making of the next new iteration of Buck?

Summary
The room spun for a beat before settling into dim shapes: the low gray light of early morning bleeding in through the blinds, the familiar slant of their bedroom ceiling—but none of that registered. What hit him first was the body against his.
His cheek was pressed against the top of a spine, rising and falling against his face with heaving breaths. His arm was wrapped around a torso that was moving with his own. His thigh was wedged up against hips that had just pushed back into him.
And that sound—that breath, that low, involuntary sound—it hadn’t come from him.
It had come from—
“Eddie,” Buck whispered. Voice raw, stuck halfway in his throat. He wasn’t even sure he’d meant to say it out loud.
“It’s okay,” Eddie spit, like it had come out instinctively—because Buck sounded scared, or maybe because Eddie was, too.
Eddie huffed, voice rough. “Keep going.”
Buck let out a shocked, stuttered, “Huh?”

Summary
“Jesus, Buck, I don’t know how to say this. My date didn’t stand me up. He was pretty punctual, actually, which is shocking if you know him.”
The color drains from Buck’s face, his lips mouthing the word he as though he’s trying to figure out if Eddie could have meant anything else by it. His voice squeaks when it comes, several octaves higher than usual. “Eddie, w-what are you saying right now?”
“Tía Pepa… set us up.” It comes out with a hint of a laugh, dry and hesitant. “You were my date, you just didn’t know it. And neither did I until you showed up on my doorstep and told me she had sent you.”
---
When Eddie asks Tía Pepa to set him up on a date, the last person he expects to be confronted with is his best friend. Naturally, Buck is exactly who she sends his way. Meddling ensues.
