He halted his movements upon hearing his name spoken in that tone, almost like a warning of sorts. His eyes met Alhaitham’s, who was studying the blonde as if to discern his intentions.
“Hm? Are you finally willing to show your senior the respect he deserves?” Kaveh asked with an air of disingenuity.
“Your foot,” Alhaitham opted to reply instead of a yes.
“Ah. Right.” Kaveh gave an experimental press to the sole of his foot, which just so coincidentally happened to be between Alhaitham’s thighs. The slight pressure elicited a sharp breath from the scribe, whose grip faltered around Kaveh’s ankle. “Don’t mind me. You seem too engrossed in your text to be paying much attention, after all.”

But the distant murmur of two voices behind the office’s closed doors kept breaking Panah’s concentration.
Right. There was another small fact about his new position that Panah forgot to address.
