Summary
Tim’s spleen wasn't the only thing he had lost in the desert that night.
The Widower left him with an injury that had forever altered his life, but Tim had adjusted. He was fine, great even. His only worry was how his family would react when he eventually found Bruce and went back to Gotham.
But to his surprise (and relief), they never even mentioned it. They carried on as if everything was normal, and that's what Tim had wanted. At least, he thought it was.
Until an incident in the field reveals a secret Tim didn't even know was a secret, and now he is forced to deal with all the emotional blowback he thought he had avoided.
Or,
Tim loses a leg in the desert. He really thought his family had noticed.

The door swung open abruptly, and Tim was suddenly faced with Jason Todd, red hoodie, vaguely irritated expression, staring at him.
“Oh, fuck.” Said Jason Todd, eyes blown wide with horror.
Tim stared up at him through mud and grime and tears. “I broke my arm.”
____Tim breaks his arm on his skateboard, and because going to the hospital definitely isn't an option, decides that the Waynes' house is the best place to go. After all, they have a state of the art medical facility in the Batcave... Not that they know Tim knows that...

“Tim! You’re not listening, I’m trying to focus and I’m not going to sit here and pretend to indulge you like you’re a child! You’re not a child, so grow up already.” Dick’s voice raised. He had never raised his voice at Tim before and he could feel the tears start to burn away at his eyes.
“Well you seemed to like me more when I was child!” Tim bit back, he knew it was harsh. He knew it was low. He could see the exhaustion on Dick’s face and frame and he still said it.

Tim speared the ravioli and ate it deliberately, maintaining eye contact. "Happy?"

The promise in those words made Tim's stomach clench with anticipation. He shifted in his seat, already half-hard just from the way Kon was looking at him.
