His tail’s still gripping onto Blade’s leg. “Besides, leaving you there would’ve done absolutely nothing for our mission.”
Or: Blade is struck by mara during a joint mission with the Astral Express Crew. When he comes to, he's in Dan Heng's room with the man himself, although Dan Heng looks...different from what Blade's used to. Talking and feelings ensue.

Summary
Dan Heng accidentally time travels back to the golden age of the High Cloud Quintet, where everyone thinks he is Dan Feng, and Blade is not Blade, but Yingxing.
Except he quickly realizes that Yingxing is the one person he can't fool—not when, previously unbeknownst to Dan Heng, Yingxing and Dan Feng were in love.
But Dan Heng soon finds himself facing an impossible choice. Does he follow the path of the original sedition so he can return to his own timeline—even when that choice eternally dooms Yingxing to become Blade? Or will he change the past, erasing his own future?

Gintoki has a lot in common with other anime mentors. The white hair, the tragic backstory, the taste for sadism... yeah, he could totally pull off a killer Kakashi cosplay if he wanted to. There's one thing that sets him apart from all of those other losers, though: Gin-san is the protagonist of his story. There's no way he'll get fridged or killed off when he's the guy selling DVDs!!!
or: Gojo and Gintoki swap universes. It'd be a little concerning if the narration wasn't brushing past it like it was nothing but a device for comedy.
