AUTHOR'S NOTE: Over the past few weeks, I’ve struggled to reconcile the original DS Lisa Swain (sharp, perceptive, emotionally intelligent) with the baffling version we’re currently seeing a "dumb-dumb Lisa Swain." Her current actions are impossible to justify based on who she was established to be. This led me to an idea: Deep, Deep Undercover.
In this story, I propose that Lisa is operating covertly, hiding the truth from everyone: her colleagues (DI Costello, Kit Green), and her family (Carla Connor and Betsy Swain). She is deliberately allowing herself to be misunderstood and acting out of character to protect a major investigation or objective. This framework explains her harmful actions; especially toward Carla, without erasing the intelligent Lisa we once knew, hopefully offering a sense of validation or explanation for her current persona.

I know I’ve been a Lisa Swain critic and honestly, rightfully so. She’s infuriated me, still does. I don’t see a clear mental health victim in Lisa; Instead I see someone maddeningly indecisive, the kind of friend I’d want to shake and tell them to get their act together. Still, this is fiction, and there are billions of people like her out there and billions like me who can’t stand that kind of indecision. But today, I’m choosing to give her grace. Maybe it’ll backfire before we end watching this Becky storyline, I don't know and maybe it won’t. Either way, canon Lisa Swain deserves the same basic mercy anyone does. So, here is a one shot.

Lisa knows Carla can't hold secrets and working with Betsy closely, it's going to be a nightmare for Carla dodging Betsy who already suspects something is going on. I imagine Carla might actually crack under pressure from Betsy and tell her about Becky and go against Lisa's warnings. :)) Lmao!! It would be around November 2024 and then of course it spirals from there into another dimension. It doesn't follow the canon storyline. Added character not from Coronation or any other show. Carla doesn't have a second kidney failure and the Logan you meet here is a woman and not a criminal, no relation to the other Logan in jail.

THIS HERE IS MORE OR LESS MY RANT>FYI: My intention here isn't to make Carla look weak or suggest she can't take care of herself—absolutely not. What's driving me mad is Lisa's indecisiveness and her blasé attitude toward Carla's feelings. It's gotten to the point where I brought in Michelle and Ryan to shake up Lisa's comfortable inertia: this habit of dodging decisions and taking Carla's love and patience for granted. Lisa hasn't even checked in to see how Carla's handling all this Swain madness, and that sends me to places I hate. I even commented under the Swarla HQ account on IG that I'd rather see Peter come back and give Lisa a taste of her own medicine—maybe then she'd wake up and realize what she's about to lose. That says a lot because I absolutely loathe how Peter treated Carla throughout their marriages with the carla clips I have seen so far. And FYI again... Michelle is in the background.

FYI CH 2> I missed Roy's behaviour when he was in the Connor Swain's hse and so I had to write in a chapter dedicated to what might have been going through his mind if anything. All alternative scenes not canon.
Simple and to the point, as stated on the title. I really hate this as much as everyone else, but on the up side, I think this is another hurdle for Swarla to jump and finally be really free. They have survived almost everything that has been thrown to them and they survived. And as Lisa said, they are indestructible and I believe it too. When they were coming from Rovers after engagement Lisa told Carla "God, I love you." And Carla looked into Lisa's eyes with that special gaze reserved for Lisa and responded "I love you too." before stopping by their front door and kissing her fiancée. So, take a breath and believe this is gonna turn out great. And also knowing this character hasn't been announced as a regular yet gives me hope that she is a temporary destruction. STOP GIVING THESE WRITERS IDEAS W/ UR SPECULATIONS! LMAO!
Oh yeah if you're interested I will give my next version of the happenings after the Friday episode.

And let me mention that this short fic was supposed to be a one shot but then it grew and I want it to be shorter than my other fics, it was inspired by that opening scene from May 29th, 2024 Where Dee Dee, Sarah and Carla collide and Carla's coffee spills on Sarah's shoes. I reimagined it a little differently.
