“Wait. Chris. You think Buck and I are dating?”
“Aren’t you?”
“Chris, why do you think that?” But before Chris can answer, Eddie’s phone rings. He stands up and walks towards the dining room table before answering. “Athena?”
“Hey, Eddie. I need you to stay calm, okay. As of now he’s safe.” Eddie’s mouth feels dry as he responds knowing exactly who Athena is referring to.
“Where’s Buck?”
“There is a hostage situation in progress at a bank on 7th. Buck is one of the hostages.” Eddie doesn’t feel real. He looks around his house grasping for something, praying that it’s all fake and that this is just a dream. But it’s not.
“Dad, what’s wrong?” Eddie feels like a jerk but he ignores his kid.
“I’m coming.”
“No you will not. I already told Buck not to be stupid and now I’m telling you.”
“Athena.”
“Eddie, we will get Buck home safe to you. Trust me. I just needed to give you the heads up. I’ll call you when we get more details. Just stay home.”Or Buck is held hostage at a bank robbery and Eddie handles it about as well as you would think.

“Eddie?”
Fuck. Eddie’s ridiculously hard in his kitchen. Buck’s only halfway through his popsicle. He reiterates, fuck.
“Sorry, what?” Eddie’s voice sounds like gravel.
Buck frowns at him. “Are you okay?” His popsicle drips onto his hand. Eddie’s eyes on it must remind Buck of its existence because he goes, “Oh, shit,” and drags his tongue up the sticky-pink path of the stray droplet.
“Jesus fuck.”
Buck stops, tongue still poking out, eyes big and round and trained on Eddie.
Eddie groans. “You can’t just do that.”
Buck’s tongue, thankfully, horribly, goes back into his mouth. “Do what?”
