Crowley is unprepared for Aziraphale’s very enthusiastic appreciation of the Fourteenth Doctor, significantly less prepared for cosmic horror at the edge of the universe, and absolutely unprepared for how much it all mirrors six thousand years of running, choosing, stopping, and staying.

“C-Crowley?” Aziraphale asked tentatively, approaching the boy in the corner slowly before making the decision to kneel, reasoning that the feeling of someone looming over him might be unwelcome.
Crowley’s head snapped up, and Aziraphale saw his face clearly for the first time that night. Streaks of black were running down his cheeks, his eyes lined and winged, with silver powder on his eyelids. His lips were painted red. Even wrecked by tears, Aziraphale felt he’d never seen anything so beautiful.
“Please forget this, please. Don’t tell anyone. I don’t even know what this is. The… clothes, and… you know.” He ducked his head, and Aziraphale ran his thumb over his shoulder in another attempt at comfort. Crowley looked up to meet his eyes for a moment, cheeks flushed, before ducking his head and continuing. “I just know that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.”

This kind of relationship is new for both Aziraphale and Crowley, and the angel is trying to navigate how to behave in this new scenario. But as Crowley suddenly gets paranoid about him leaving again, things evolve very quickly.
