Summary
Boden watched Severide freeze at the top of the aerial and he instantly knew that this was going to be one of the calls that he will never forget. The ones where everything was going so well until everything suddenly went wrong, so very very wrong. He knew it because the Squad Lieutenant never froze.
Kelly Severide never fucking froze.
Instead, he watched in silence as the ceiling at the backend of the building caved in. The ground gave in just as the impact hit the floor of the second story and gave away onto the first floor, crumbling into pieces. The retaining wall on the left followed the path of the ground and the whole building tipped with it, sliding down the collapsing sand before crumbling right before his eyes.
The building was gone. Just a cloud of dust and rubble lay in its wake.
