Summary
In a world where everyone receives a soulmark from someone they love, when Trixie wakes up with a new soulmark, Chloe is understandably confused and worried. She confides in Lucifer, who, unbeknownst to her, has his own issues surrounding soulmarks. Meaning, he doesn't have any, not even his own. So naturally, it doesn't even cross his mind that Trixie's mark could be his.

“I believe you,” Chloe said, holding his gaze. “I believe.”
He furrowed his brow in that confused way he did when someone did something too selfless. “Detective, are you feeling quite alright?”
“Lucifer,” she said. It was the only thing she could say.
He tilted his head, took a small step back. “You really believe that I’m the devil?”
She almost laughed. “I’m about to tell you something even crazier, so I think I owe you that much. I’m caught in a time loop.”
Or, when she sees the face of the devil, Chloe Decker’s first instinct is to run. What if she got another try, and another, and another?

“I’m not going to say I’m grateful for any of that mess,” she said, “but I’m so glad I didn’t run. I’m glad I’m here with you. You’re the only reason I’m even a little bit okay right now.”
“Detective,” he said and was grateful that she seemed to understand his meaning.
“There’s probably still a lot we have to talk about,” she said. “So much to figure out, about—well, about everything. But, for right now, can we just stay like this?”
“For as long as you’ll have me, Detective.”
“How’s forever sound?”
Or, the devil learns how to breathe, the detective asks a lot of questions, and the woman finally rebels

Dan actually cracked a smile. “I just realized, we’re literally acting like the angel and devil on your shoulders.”
Ella scowled. “I’ll show you which one of us is the angel and which is the devil, pendejo.”
“Angel,” Chloe said, and jumped to her feet. “I should talk to Amenadiel. He’s got to know more about Eve.”
“Her name is Eve?” Ella’s brow shot up. “Seriously? His first big love was a married woman, named Eve? Is that where this whole devil business started?”
“Uh, Chlo,” Dan said, “you do know that Amenadiel isn’t actually an angel, right?”
“Of course,” she said, unconvincingly.
Shockingly, he looked unconvinced.
Or, Chloe Decker has finally accepted that her partner—boyfriend?—is the devil. But when their first fight as a couple ends with an appearance from Lucifer’s beautiful and very dead ex, she has to learn that moving on from the past isn’t the same as moving towards the future.
