It's about the satisfaction on Attano's face, when he's done sponging off the filth. The gleam in his eye and the curve to his mouth like he knows something Daud doesn't.
What does he think he's looking at, in that moment? A sword isn't less a sword when it's not hilt-deep in guts. A mountain of corpses isn't less a mountain of corpses when it's dumped where the living won't see.

After a particularly gruesome ritual he finally breaks down and is forced to admit to the baron that he has started seeing himself in the place of his victims. Alexander, fearing what his guest might do to himself, steps in to save Daniel from himself - and to show him that there are many beautiful things hiding in the dark, too.

By the time the meeting starts, it’s too late to excuse himself to go to the washroom to relieve himself, and but the time this thought occurs to Daud he realises that he has in fact not relieved himself all day. By the time the meeting is halfway done he’s remembered every single glass of water he’d downed – at least five – and he’s feeling every single drop in his very full, very painful bladder while the Prime Minister drones on about tax reform.
Daud isn't even remotely ready to analyse this about himself.

After everything that’s happened to him, he’s strange, quiet and fierce and skittish. Just as ruined as anyone Daud had ever picked up for a Whaler, and Daud knows how to handle ruined men.

He has left mountains of corpses in his wake to put Emily on the throne, but in the final struggle to oust Delilah from the ruins of Dunwall, Corvo fails. The ritual succeeds, but as with all things involving the Void and magic, there is a price to be paid.
Corvo finds himself in Dunwall, back at the very beginning of it all, with no memories of the future and a monstrous new form.
